Physiognomous Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Physiognomous ("we", "us", "our") processes information when you use the Physiognomous iOS app.
Physiognomous is published and operated under the Zuhl Productions creative label.
1. Information We Process
- Submitted Face Photos: photos you choose to capture or import for analysis or follow-up requests.
- Face Data From Submitted Photos: the visible facial geometry, proportions, contours, symmetry, and feature relationships contained in the submitted photo.
- User Content: text you choose to submit for follow-up features or journal entries.
- Identifiers: a locally generated install identifier and technical app/device identifiers needed for service operation.
- Purchases: in-app purchase product IDs, transaction IDs, and entitlement/credit grant status.
- Usage Data: feature usage and interaction events to operate and improve the app.
- Diagnostics: crash and performance diagnostics.
2. How We Use Face Data
- Provide the analysis and follow-up responses you request from a submitted face photo.
- Display the imported face inside the app while you adjust framing and centerline before analysis.
- If you save a face to Gallery or attach an image to a Journal entry, store that copy locally on your device.
- Detect abuse, fraud, and operational issues.
We do not use face data to identify you, verify identity, perform facial recognition, or build advertising profiles.
3. Sharing and Third-Party Services
We share submitted face data only with service providers needed to run the requested feature, including:
- Google Firebase (such as Cloud Functions, Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, App Check) for backend and operations.
- Google Gemini APIs via our backend to generate the requested model response from the submitted photo and prompt.
- Apple (App Store / StoreKit) for in-app purchases.
We do not sell face data or share face data for third-party advertising.
4. Storage and Retention
Submitted face photos used for live analysis are transmitted to our backend for request processing. The current backend implementation does not persist submitted face images to Firestore or Cloud Storage after the request completes.
If you import or capture a face in the app, a local copy may be stored in Gallery on your device. If you save an analysis or note with an attached image, that attachment is also stored locally on your device. These local copies remain until you delete them from Gallery or Journal, or remove the app.
We may retain non-image records such as usage logs, quota balances, purchase status, transaction records, crash diagnostics, and support correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, prevent fraud or abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
5. Background Reading Processing and Notifications
When you start an Analyze or Compare reading, Physiognomous may continue, resume, or retry that reading request if the app is backgrounded or later reopened. This helps complete readings reliably and helps avoid charging again for the same request.
If notifications are enabled, the app may send local status notifications such as a reading still casting, a reading ready to view, or a reading needing attention. These notifications do not include face images, full reading content, or sensitive analysis text. They may include internal request identifiers used only to return you to the correct reading screen.
6. How We Use Other Information
- Manage credits and Pro unlock entitlements.
- Monitor and improve app reliability and performance.
7. Data Linking
We do not require account registration in the app. Data is generally processed using technical identifiers rather than your direct real-world identity.
8. Sharing and Sale of Data
We do not sell personal data. We share data only with service providers needed to run the app and process requests and purchases.
9. Your Choices
- You can stop submitting photos or text at any time.
- You can uninstall the app to remove locally stored data on your device.
- You can request privacy actions using the process on our User Privacy Choices page.
10. Children
Physiognomous is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates are effective when posted at this URL.
